Virtual Academy

The new Greater Clark Virtual Academy is open to any student in Indiana. Enjoy all of Greater Clark’s high-quality academic offerings from the comfort of your home by participating in the K-12 Greater Clark Virtual Academy. All classes will be offered online and a device will be provided to each student. Students may even earn high school and college credits, at the same time.

Paired with their adult learning coach at home, students will engage with their teacher and classmates online, learning all the same state standards as students in the traditional school environment. With the flexibility of online learning, students can do longer or shorter lessons, taking breaks as needed, and moving at a pace that works for them, making the program very individualized. The learning coach and teacher work together closely as a team, making sure all educational standards are being mastered. One-on-one tutoring is also available.

The Greater Clark Virtual Academy for the high school student allows students to pursue their interests, earning high school and even college credits, from home. Our high school curriculum includes required and elective courses in English, Social Studies, Science, Math, Spanish, PE, Business, and Advanced Placement courses are offered. Students will also participate in the Greater Clark Academies program, which provides a direct pathway to high-paying careers or college. The curriculum in the High School Virtual Academy exceeds all Indiana State Academic Standards. Graduates will receive a Core 40 Diploma in this program and may be able to earn an Honors Diploma with additional classes.

Virtual Academy FAQs

In our rapidly changing 21st century world, students need to be more prepared than ever in order to be successful after high school. Recognizing this, Greater Clark County Schools embarked on a partnership with the Ford Next Generation Learning to establish The Academies of Greater Clark to ensure all of our students are college and career ready. The academy model provides small learning communities of students and teachers, organized around labor market demand, that will enable students to explore areas of interest; find their passion; and develop critical thinking, creativity, communication and collaboration skills. GCCS offers the following Academies at each of our high schools: Freshman Academy, Business & Entrepreneurship, Health Services, Engineering & Advanced Manufacturing, and Public Service. Each Academy offers multiple pathways to provide opportunities for students to explore career interests. Greater Clark has over 300 business partnerships, which support our schools through work-based learning opportunities and internships. In 2018 – 19, 78 students completed internships. There’s something for every student at Greater Clark whether it is a small, mid-size or a large school. Each school provides a unique experience for the student. There is even a NEW online K-12 school option. Come see why we say #WeAreGreater.
