We want to wish our staff and students a warm welcome back as we get ready to begin a new school year.  Our official first day back for staff members is Monday, July 25 as we host one of the state’s regional eLearning Conferences at Jeffersonville High School.  Our students’ first day will be Thursday, July 28.

We have great students, supportive parents, and a highly committed and dedicated staff.  As we enter the new school year, our mission continues to be making sure our students graduate, accepted to a post-secondary opportunity.  98 percent of our 2016 graduates were accepted to a two or four-year college, the military, an apprenticeship, or a full-time job.

Our College and Career Readiness efforts have been recognized at a national level with the Ford Next Generation Learning organization asking the district to join its network of approximately 35 communities around the country that are successfully implementing these concepts and making a difference in the quality of life in those communities. We will share more about Ford NGL in an upcoming ON episode.

The district’s middle schools will transition to a new instructional delivery model this year designed to make the transition for incoming sixth grade students more effective.

Our mission ends with post-secondary acceptance, but the foundation is established as students first enter school as we focus on developing great character through the district’s PRIDE program. The program has been recognized as a state model and is being implemented in other communities throughout Indiana. Students are taught the importance of Persistence, Respectful, Initiative, Dependability and Efficiency, all characteristics valued by today’s businesses and organizations. The rigorous certificate was awarded to 28 percent of fifth, eighth and twelfth grade students last school year.

As you can see, Greater Clark County Schools is dedicated to our students and our community. “Bridging Excellence and Opportunities” is not just the district’s slogan, it is the district’s operational focus. We look forward to an outstanding 2016-2017 school year!
