Radio/Television Studio to Honor Ted Throckmorton

Parent Connect - January 15, 2016In 2014, Greater Clark County Schools began its pursuit of radio frequencies for both Jeffersonville and Charlestown through a process initiative by the Federal Communications Commission. The district applied for frequencies in both locations and secured its own license for Jeffersonville High School, and through an inter-local agreement with the City of Charlestown, secured a frequency that will be used for Charlestown High School and New Washington Middle/High School.

On Saturday, January 16 at 6:30 p.m., Greater Clark County Schools and Jeffersonville High School will host an invitation only dedication of the radio/television studio. The “WJHI” studio will be named after the late Ted Throckmorton. Ted was a 1946 graduate of Jeffersonville High School. He was the radio voice of the Red Devils from 1962 until his passing in 2015. He was inducted into the Indiana Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2011. A small program will be held for the public prior to the varsity boys’ basketball game at 7:15 p.m. to announce the new Ted Throckmorton Studio.
