Thank you for your interest in Greater Clark County Schools Preschool Program!
In 2016, Greater Clark County Schools was awarded the Early Education Matching Funds Grant which helped the district expand the preschool program from six elementary schools to all elementary schools. The district no longer receives the grant and therefore must limit the preschool program to specific elementary schools in the district. This change will save the district approximately $400,000 per year since no funding is received from the state for registered preschool students. No teachers or para-educators will lose their job as we restructure the preschool program as they will shift into other positions in the district.
In order to be eligible for preschool, your child must be 4 years of age by August 1, 2019. Children who are 5 on August 1, 2019 are not eligible for preschool. The preschool program will be offered at the following schools: Bridgepoint Elementary, New Washington Elementary, Northaven Elementary, Parkwood Elementary, Pleasant Ridge Elementary, Riverside Elementary and Spring Hill Elementary. Please review the information below and complete the application linked below.
If your child is accepted into the preschool program, you will need to provide the child’s birth certificate, immunization records and proof of residence before or on the first day of school. Students attend preschool 5 days a week for 2 ½ hours each day. We will try to accommodate your preference for morning or afternoon session, but there is no guarantee your child will be in the requested session. The fee for preschool is $150 for the school year and parents must provide transportation. If your family qualifies for free lunch, the fee is waived and transportation is provided. Students who qualify for reduced price lunch may pay $50.00 by or on the first day of school and complete a payment agreement for the remaining balance to be paid by the end of the school year.
Applications submitted after May 10, 2019 will be placed on a waiting list. Completion of the preschool program application does not guarantee your child is accepted in the program. Parents will receive a letter in the mail the week of May 28, 2019 to notify them if their child has been accepted to the preschool program or if they are on the waiting list.
