Louisville Orchestra Comes to Thomas Jefferson

MakingMUSIC Ensemble Visit

The Louisville Orchestra chamber ensemble visited TJES to teach students about the science, history, and language of music. During their visit, the chamber ensemble presented about their instruments and careers to individual classrooms and then brought all of the 4th and 5th graders together in the gym to perform visit from Star Wars to Bach  and talk even more about the science and history of music as well as their instruments.

Students and teachers participated in this engaging event by asking and answering fun and interesting questions, discussing aspects of music, and even building a working flute from a simple PVC pipe! Students laughed as one student tried to count the notes the flutist played in the iconic “Flight of the Bumblebee.”
