Jeffersonville High School and the John H. Schnatter Family Foundation are excited to announce a $500,000 donation from the Foundation to be used for the renovation of the Jeffersonville High School baseball facility. With this donation, a new turf infield will be installed on Don Poole Field, and a new outfield fence will be added as well. In recognition of this gift, the stadium will now be known as John H. Schnatter Stadium.
“Some of my fondest memories came from playing on the 1980 state finalist baseball team at Jeffersonville High, and I’m proud that my foundation can provide funds to rejuvenate the baseball facility here,” said John Schnatter. He added, “I developed many long-lasting relationships on this field, and I learned a lot about leadership and doing things by the book from Head Coach Don Poole and JV Coach and mentor Travis Nay. I’m excited to give this next generation a great facility in which to learn some of those same lessons about leadership and teamwork that I learned through baseball. I’m hopeful that they’ll use those lessons to create their own memories that will last a lifetime.”
Jeffersonville High School Principal Julie Straight stated, “Our school and the Jeffersonville community as a whole are extremely grateful for Mr. Schnatter’s support of the baseball program. It’s incredible to have his Foundation invest in our student-athletes by taking their facility to the next level. This project will have an amazing impact on their lives and we’re looking forward to showcasing a new, beautiful baseball stadium.”
