3, 2, 1 Read

GCCSchools is proud to partner with Communities in Schools of Clark County to bring the 3, 2, 1 Read program to our young learners!

The program matches a community volunteer with a struggling reader for a one-on-one weekly session of reading to and with the student.  Each week the youngster is given a new book to enlarge the student’s personal library. Once the student is matched with a “reading friend”, CIS of Clark County commits to providing a volunteer for a full three years. This program is supported in-part by the Dollar General Literacy Foundation.

Students at Spring Hill meet with their community volunteer weekly and sometimes even multiple times a week. These bonds are great for our young learners as they  build relationships with volunteers and build their own library with books they take home with them.  Our Communities in Schools of Clark County partners received a grant from Ronald McDonald House Charities to help provide books for our 3, 2, 1, Read program and other basic necessities items.
